The Playroom Project

The Corpus Playroom currently enjoys the reputation of being the second most important student drama space in Cambridge, after the ADC. The theatre currently provides students with the only suitable space for low budget studio theatre and is where most actors and directors start out, before moving up to the ADC. The Corpus Playroom is a much loved and respected institution and is also fondly remembered by many of Cambridge's most distinguished graduates. For instance, Stephen Fry describes it as the place where he learnt and developed the most as an actor, writer and director whilst at Cambridge.

It is our intention, over the coming years, to restore this lovely theatrical space back to how it used be, and beyond, to really exploit its full potential as Cambridge's second biggest location for student theatre. However, all this can't be done without money. Please read our proposals for how we can modernise the Playroom and make it somewhere that actors and directors aspire to using to the best of their abilities, and check back regularly to this page in order to keep track of our development progress and fundraising and publicity events.
